John 8:42 “If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me.
43 Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word.
44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.
45 But because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me.
46 Which of you convicts Me of sin? And if I tell the truth, why do you not believe Me?
47 He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore, you do not hear, because you are not of God.”
Y’shua knows how to tell who is of Satan, and who is not, and to be sure He wants us to understand also Who Satan is, and who are His minions. He will have us know that those who serve the Lawless one. are serving Satan, and must be readily identified.
“If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me.
Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word.” (Vs 42, 43)
They have a completely different language from Christ, because they are not from YHVH God. And like Y’shua Christ, we are also sent into this world, with a holy purpose, He gave us life, breathed His own breath into us, formed us and shaped us in our mother’s womb. And though we may have stumbled, He kept calling to us until we remembered Who our Father is. And when we do remember, we begin to understand the Word of YHVH God. We begin to live the love that He has poured out in us, and we therefore, find that we have enemies.
“You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.” (Vs 44)
He begins to point out, how He knows who is of His flock and who is of Satan. They are given over to evil, Satan was a murderer from the beginning and cannot stand the truth. He cannot and will not believe it, because there’s no truth in Him. He is driven by His own nature to lie and to deceive.
And this is why there’s so much confusion about what is actually being said in the Word of God, and why He warns us about false teacher’s saying, “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.
16You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?
17Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.
18A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.
19Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
20Therefore by their fruits you will know them.” (Matthew 7:15-20)
They cannot tell the truth, because they have no way of knowing it. So, their view of God’s Word is fragmented, flawed with contradictions, and conflicting with other scriptures. Therefore, many things are taught without context, and thus, the fruit of their teaching is lawlessness, which is sin.
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Y’shua / Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23)
So, if we are taught lawlessness, is that not murder? Is that not a lie, or a deception? Of course, it is! And according to Christ, if we belong to Him, then we should have it in us to recognize such lies.
Did He not say? “If you love Me, keep My commandments.
And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.” (John 14:15-17)
He gives us His Spirit, the Spirit of Truth, so that we will recognize the difference between truth and lies. His Spirit will not allow lawlessness. I cannot imagine that the Holy Spirit would allow us to break the same Laws He kept, without putting up a fight. And then if we continued, that Spirit would depart from us.
“And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.” (Ephesians 4:30)
So where would we be without the Holy Spirit to guide us, and to lead us in all truth? I believe the answer to that is so obvious, we certainly wouldn’t be in line to survive judgment, for those who are invited to enter the Holy city are those who have kept God’s Commandments, and walked according to the truth of His Word.
Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.
But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie. (Revelation 22:14, 15)
Perhaps now we can see how the truth of God’s Word persists throughout the scriptures from beginning to end. For it all began with a lie, told in the garden.
With a lie, Satan convinced Adam and Eve to disobey YHVH God. And throughout the scriptures since then the keeping of God’s Word, the Commandments, has been tied to blessings and curses.
“Behold, I set before you today a blessing and a curse:
the blessing, if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you today; and the curse, if you do not obey the commandments of the Lord your God, but turn aside from the way which I command you today, to go after other gods which you have not known.” (Deuteronomy 11:26-28)
A return to the Way, the Truth, and the Life that YHVH God has laid out for His children, contradicts the lies, in every book of the Bible, and every story that the Bible tells. So, from cover to cover he has given us His truth.
And finally, the Apostle John tells us in his epistles, “Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments.
4He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him.
6He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.” (1st John 2:3-6)
We who belong to Him, Have been given a way to walk, and follow His Way, His Truth, and the Life that He promised.
So, we are left with one question, Who is our Father?
Shalom my friends,
