Deuteronomy 10:12 “And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul,
13 and to keep the commandments of the Lord and His statutes which I command you today for your good?
The commandments have been given to us for a purpose. They are for our own good. So that we will know good from evil, and conduct ourselves accordingly before a righteous and Holy God.
“And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul,” (Vs 12)
We will live in this world until we depart from it in death, and then we will either return to our Creator or be relegated to whatever is left.
Yahshua spoke of our final destruction at His coming saying: “The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels.
Therefore, as the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of this age.
The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. (Matthew 13:39-42)
There is a final disposition for every soul, on the basis of who their God is. In one camp their god is eternal death, but in the other is eternal life. But YHWH God does not accept evil into His Kingdom.
And Here is why: This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. (1st John 1:5, 6)
He is light and there is no darkness in Him, YHWH God the Father, has zero tolerance for darkness, or evil. And if we do not know the difference between good and evil, we are in jeopardy of being cast out.
So, the commandments are key to our conversion from evil to good. If we do not know them, and understand the thought behind them, then we have no way to know good from evil, and righteousness from unrighteousness. Nor can we know how to love one another.
“and to keep the commandments of the Lord and His statutes which I command you today for your good?” (Vs 13)
Thus, the keeping of the Commandments are for our own good. So that we do not live a life of lawlessness and iniquity, but we can strive for the sake of that which is in us that is good, and not evil.
Among our native American friends, there is this story of how in each of us there are two wolves, one is white, the other is black, and these two wolves fight constantly, and the one that wins is dominant. So, which one will win in our lives is determined by one factor alone, it is the one we feed!
The Commandments are the food for the good in us?
Yahshua said, “He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.” (John 14:21)
Shalom my friends,
