Matthew 7:13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.
14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”
If we say that the Law is done away with at the cross, Then why do the disciples continue to teach the Law after Yehoshua has ascended, and why do they continue to keep the Sabbath, just as it was given according to the 4th Commandment?
For assuredly the narrow way is the way that is given according to YHVH God’s Covenant.
“You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.” (Deuteronomy 4:2)
From what I see, that’s pretty narrow. And who doesn’t know that this is His Covenant and it is by this Covenant that Yah takes His people as a wife. Yes, the Commandmentsare our wedding vows!
We therefore, must conduct ourselves according to the Covenant that we have entered into, when we came to Yehoshua Christ, the Son of the Same God who gave these Commandments.
“Therefore, you shall be careful to do as the Lord your God has commanded you; you shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.
You shall walk in all the ways which the Lord your God has commanded you, that you may live and that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which you shall possess.” (Deuteronomy 5:31, 32)
You have no choice but to walk according to God’s commandments, (The narrow Path.) That is of course, if we want to come out from under God’s curse?
“Behold, I set before you today a blessing and a curse: the blessing, if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you today; and the curse, if you do not obey the commandments of the Lord your God, but turn aside from the way which I command you today, to go after other gods which you have not known.” (Deuteronomy 11:26-28)
You see, YHVH God sees our disobedience as idolatry, and He’s absolutely correct! If we do not submit to Him and His Word, then assuredly we have turned away from Him as God, therefore we must be listening to some other god.
So, we come to what Yehoshua said about keeping the Commandments. It is how He identifies those who belong to Him, and have entered into a love relationship.
“He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.” (John14:21)
But those who do not Keep the commandments not only do not love Him, but are trying to use Him as fire insurance, as they walk the broad path of Lawlessness.
Therefore, he says of them, that they will be destroyed at the time of judgment, and He will turn His back on them.
“Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’
And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice Lawlessness!’” (Matthew 7:22, 23)
So yes, our refusal to obey God’s Word, is going to cost us our relationship with the only Savior there is.
God is not stupid, he knows what is in our heart, and on our mind. Therefore, Yehoshua says, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.
He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me.” (John 14:23, 24)
We may be so wrapped up in ourselves that we just cannot listen to what Yehoshua says, But let’s make no mistake, that is the work of Satan, and many have believed His lies, even the majority. So assuredly, if you want to go to hell, follow the majority!
Yehoshua goes on to say, “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock:
25and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.
26“But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand:
27and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.” (Matthew 7:24-27)
It’s Not that difficult for those who love Messiah Yehoshua to keep His Commandments, and to walk the narrow path of righteousness. And actually, we’re told that it’s not burdensome.
By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments.
For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. (1st John 5:2, 3)
There’s only one way for God’s church to redeem itself now, and that is through repentance and change. God has prepared a way for us to return to the narrow Path, and it’s painless. All we have to do is humble ourselves before a merciful and gracious God.
