Open the Door.

Revelation 3:14 “And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write, ‘These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God:
15 “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot.
16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.
17 Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked—
18 I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.
19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore, be zealous and repent.
20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.
21 To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.
22 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”’”

, “‘These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God:
“I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. (Vs 14, 15)

Yahshua is speaking to a middle of the road, church. One that is not fully committed, but not fully withdrawn from the faith. This reminds me of so many Churches I have been to myself. Their focus is on their wealth and comfort rather than those things that make us endure the discomfort of visitation, witnessing to strangers, and bearing testimony of How Christ was crucified for our salvation, the actual preaching of the Gospel.

So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. (Vs 16)

So, here is the Judgment! This kind of church will feel the vacuum as the Holy Spirit departs. It reminds me of churches that have a Christmas tree in their sanctuary, or hold Easter egg hunts. Or a celebration of Halloween, with costumes, candy, pumpkins and all. These Pagan traditions in a church tells us that they don’t know the difference between what is Holy, and what is an abomination.

And where do these things take us?

26 Her priests have violated My law and profaned My holy things; they have not distinguished between the holy and unholy, nor have they made known the difference between the unclean and the clean; and they have hidden their eyes from My Sabbaths, so that I am profaned among them.
27 Her princes in her midst are like wolves tearing the prey, to shed blood, to destroy people, and to get dishonest gain.
28 Her prophets plastered them with untempered mortar, seeing false visions, and divining lies for them, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD,’ when the Lord had not spoken. (Ezekiel 22:26-28)

“Because you say, ‘I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked— I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.” (Vs 17, 18)

It seems that when many of us acquire wealth, we become apathetic toward God. We cease to pray for what we need. We lose our humility before God. We’re no longer aware of what the relationship with Christ requires of us. And from Heavens point of view, we have lost everything of value. In the eyes of Christ we have become wretched, miserable, and poor in spite of our wealth.

The Gold that He refers to is that which comes from the refiner’s fire.

2 “But who can endure the day of His coming? And who can stand when He appears? For He is like a refiner’s fire and like launderers’ soap.
3 He will sit as a refiner and a purifier of silver; He will purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer to the Lord an offering in righteousness. (Malachi 3:2, 3)

Our righteousness is the gold that He values, Not the kind of gold that the world values. We will be ashamed if we stand before Him devoid of this righteousness that we must be clothed in. this is that garment that shines like the Sun.

The salve that Yahshua speaks of is a product that Laodicea produced and sold all over the Mediterranean. and brought them a good bit of wealth. But Yahshua uses it to point out their blindness.

He says, “As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore, be zealous and repent.” (Vs 19)

When Yahshua rebukes a church or an individual, we need to understand that it is because we are loved. Repentance is simply the first step toward restoration of the relationship and securing our salvation. The next step of course, is to obey Him.

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.
To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.  (Vs 20, 21)

His requiring our Repentance is Him knocking at our door, and when we respond to His request that we humble ourselves before Him. Is the opening of the door. He can then come in and the sharing of bread between friends is the fellowship that we all so desire to have with Him.

Repentance and a return to the Way of Christ Yahshua is how we overcome the world, and this is what brings us into the Throne room to share the throne with Yahshua.

“If you love Me keep my Commandments” (John 14:15)
