Therefore, gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,
because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.” (1st Peter 1:13-16)
The Apostle Peter is telling us to prepare our minds, be not under any other influence, but place your hope on the grace of Jesus / Yahshua the Messiah. We are not going to enter the Kingdom without His presence having made it so. But we must not allow ourselves to be ruled by our former desires, as if were ignorant of His Word. (The Commandments.)
“If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.
He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me. (John 14:23, 24)
Keeping His Word is the means by which we are to be Holy, just as He is Holy.
“If you love Me, keep My commandments.
And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. (John 14:15-17)
When we conform ourselves to His instructions, we receive the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth. Thus, we have in us His Spirit, and a leg up on being Holy.
but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.” (Vs 15, 16)
So now, are we ready to be Holy? And if we are, are we prepared to walk According to Holiness, How is it that we can achieve Holiness?
Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.
Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?
For you were bought at a price; therefore, glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. (1st Corinthians 6:18-20)
The Holy Spirit in us will not allow us to live outside of God’s Law. He will depart from us first.
And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. (Ephesians 4:30)
The Spirit of Yahshua Christ Himself is the presence that comes to abide with us. And if Christ is anything at all He surely is the living expression of God’s Law, the Commandments, which is synonymous, with the Word of God. He that lives in us is the living Word of YHWH God. (The Logos) To deny God’s Law is equal to denying Christ, the Messiah.
He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked. (1st John 2:6)
I hear so many Churches crying out for the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and asking YHWH God for a revival, but it cannot happen if we don’t preach the Word of God, the commandments. So here is why we struggle with ministry. And here is why we are filling pews with backsliders. And until the church returns to teaching and preaching according to God’s Law, nothing will change.
We must preach the path to Holiness.
For We must know this one thing: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”
Therefore, submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom.
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up. (James 4:6-10)
We cannot be double minded and succeed at anything requiring Holiness.
Shalom my friends,
