Keeping our word, is honoring God!

Matthew 5:33 “Again, you have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform your oaths to the Lord.’
34 But I say to you, do not swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is God’s throne;
35 nor by the earth, for it is His footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.
36 Nor shall you swear by your head, because you cannot make one hair white or black.
37 But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.

If we say that we will do something, and then don’t do it, is that not a false witness, a lie? And have we not made ourselves a liar by breaking our word?

“Again, you have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform your oaths to the Lord.’” (Vs 33)

To me this is very much like the 9th Commandment, “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.” (Exodus 20:16)

This is a grievous sin, the 9th of the Ten Commandments. I was reminded of this sin last night in my sleep.  Because I had taken a vow of marriage and Had not kept it. Now I have since repented of this sin. But now I need to remember the other vows involved in that Marriage ceremony.

As follows:   “I, Charles, take thee, Wanda, to be my wedded wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part, according to God’s holy ordinance; and thereto I pledge myself to you.”

Y’shua said, “But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.” (Vs 37)

Y’shua reminded me last night in a dream, that it was necessary for me to do all that I can, to keep these vows that were made in His presence. And I intend to do exactly as he said to the best of my ability!

So, I will put away my pride, and humble myself before my King, and do as He pleases.  For while my wife must answer to me, I will answer to Him in all things, and love and cherish my wife as best I can.

So, as I write this short testimony to you today, I want you to know my friends, that even if it’s not important to you, If you have a relationship with Abba God, our Elohim, it counts with Him that we do exactly as we have said.

A man’s word is His Honor. And to take a woman to wife and then to abandon her, or abuse her, is against everything that is of Christ in us, and His Spirit will cry out.

No matter if you’re living in poverty, still we must love and cherish until we are separated by death.

Even if she runs away from it, still we must keep these vows, and if I will ever council another person with regard to their marriage, these vows must be upheld to them. Therefore, I need to keep them.

Who wants to be counseled by a liar, someone who does not live by the same standard He holds us to?

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer. (Psalm 19:14)

Shalom my friends,

Chuck Greever
