How does YHVH God feel when His children refuse to hear and obey?

Mark 10:17 Now as He was going out on the road, one came running, knelt before Him, and asked Him, “Good Teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?”
18 So Y’shua / Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God.
19 You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery,’ ‘Do not murder,’ ‘Do not steal,’ ‘Do not bear false witness,’ ‘Do not defraud,’ ‘Honor your father and your mother.’”

I sometimes wonder How Y’shua Christ, the Messiah feels about those who do not come to Him seeking eternal life. But here is one who comes running and kneels at His feet asking.

And He asks, “Good Teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?” (Vs 17)

His reply is a shock for those of us who do not know what to do, in that regard.

He says, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery,’ ‘Do not murder,’ ‘Do not steal,’ ‘Do not bear false witness,’ ‘Do not defraud,’ ‘Honor your father and your mother.’” (Vs 18, 19)

When He is saying that no one is good but YHVH God, He is saying in essence, to do the Father’s will. Keep the Commandments that He handed down to Moses. And He itemizes 6 of the Ten Commandments.

We need to understand that there’s a reason that YHVH gave us the Commandments, and at the very least, if we want to enter the Kingdom of Heaven, we need to Keep them. And they are not that difficult to keep.

1st John 5:1 Whoever believes that Y’shua / Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him.
2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments.
3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.
4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
5 Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Y’shua / Jesus is the Son of God?

The desire to obey and follow God’s Word, the Commandments, comes out of the fact that our salvation Has begun, and it is part of our redemption process.

When we come to believe in Christ Y’shua we make a commitment to follow Him, and yes, it is by grace that we are set aside as saved, but then it is up to us to change our ways, and to no longer walk as unsaved Gentiles. The Commandments of God give us a clear set of instructions to follow in order to demonstrate our salvation, in the way that we live our lives.

“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.
Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
(Matthew 5:14-16)

Keeping the Commandments of YHVH God will cause us to be seen as upright, in all that we do, thus he is glorified by our very existence among Men who know not the things of God.

5“Surely I have taught you statutes and judgments, just as the Lord my God commanded me, that you should act according to them in the land which you go to possess.
6Therefore be careful to observe them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples who will hear all these statutes, and say, ‘Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.’
7“For what great nation is there that has God so near to it, as the Lord our God is to us, for whatever reason we may call upon Him?
(Deuteronomy 4:5-7)

If YHVH God is not listening to our prayers, then perhaps it is because we are not walking according to His will. If we’ll be set aside and made Holy to our God and Savior let it be because we have taken to heart His instructions on how we ought to live a saved life.

15“If you love Me, keep My commandments.
16And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—
17the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.
18I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.”
(John 14:15-18)

Clearly, we will have help in this life because He pours out His Holy Spirit in those who endeavor to Keep these Ten simple Commandments. But he does not among those who shun His Word, and do not care to obey Him.

Thus, we have been the cause of our own failure to remain in His good graces.

By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going (Hebrews 11:8)

I suggest reading all of Hebrews 11, for it is a great commentary on the difference between faith, and obedience, and points our many examples of how the faithful walk hand in hand in obedience throughout the entire Bible.

And now our obedience is being tested in these last days. For it will decide who it is that is acceptable to Christ our judge on the day that we will all face judgment.

And so, I pose this question today, and every remaining day until He comes. Am I really His? Am I being faithful to Him? Am I doing as he instructed His Flock to do? Do I really love Him?

When was the last time I even looked at the Commandments of YHVH God?

(See Exodus 20:1-17)

I think I know now what God feels when His Children refuse to Hear His Word and Obey.

Shema Yisrael!

Shalom My friends,

Chuck Greever
