Deuteronomy 11:26 “Behold, I set before you today a blessing and a curse:
27 the blessing, if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you today;
28 and the curse, if you do not obey the commandments of the Lord your God, but turn aside from the way which I command you today, to go after other gods which you have not known.
When we turn away from Keeping YHVH God’s ordinances and commandments, In His mind, He understands that we must have some other god, otherwise we would obey Him. Thus, we have entered into idolatry.
Therefore, He stops blessing us simply because even though we know Him, and understand His Word, we turn our hearts away from Him. It doesn’t have to be a graven image, or an object of our desire.
He has said, Exodus 20:2 “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3 “You shall have no other gods before Me.
4 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth;
5 you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me,
6 but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
It can simply be that we just do not want to listen to our Heavenly Father, our creator. But have instead transferred His authority to someone or something else. The net result of which is curses, rather than blessings.
So, who or what is it that we are following?
We can be sure that whatever it is, it does not hold a candle to YHVH God almighty.
We know this much that there has always been a struggle between the forces of darkness, and the forces of light, and we have been caught in the middle. Lies and deception are the tools of our false god, Satan.
And Christ warned us of false teachers, yet we have embraced them.
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. (2nd Timothy 4:3, 4)
So, if we are sick, destitute, jobless, or downtrodden in any way. We have to consider our attitude toward our maker and our level of obedience to Him.
the blessing, if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you today; and the curse, if you do not obey the commandments of the Lord your God, (Vs 27, 28)
Make a choice today to either follow God and keep His commandments, or continue to make your way in this world cursed because of the idolatry that we have entered into.
But understand that we cannot claim ignorance any more, this is done with eyes wide open.
Shalom my friends,
