Do we really follow Christ?

John 14:22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, “Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?”
23 Yahshua / Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.
24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Fathers who sent Me.

Judas asks a very good question when He asks, “Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?” (Vs 22)

We still have questions like this, especially among those who have not yet come to understand the importance of obeying and following the example of Christ, who lived to please the Father. This is the part of our relationship that brings real meaning to following the living Word of God.

If we believe but do not follow His example, how are we any different from Satan, who also believes, but does not follow Christ, whom he knows very well is the living Son of God.

Here is the answer, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.” (Vs 23)

Love is the catalyst! This is the thing that greases the wheels of relationship and brings the Holy Spirit. When we love Yahshua He draws nearer to us and His Spirit surrounds us and enters us, filling up those places in our heart that Long for our Savior. The Father loves His Son and because we have this love in common with our Savior, He becomes a part of the relationship as well and the Holy Spirt is the bond!

But on the other hand, “He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Fathers who sent Me.” (Vs 24)

Those among us who could care less about keeping the Commandments will demonstrate before God that He does not love Yahshua Christ by turning their back on the Commandments of God. and therefore, forfeit the blessings of Yahshua and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit does not tolerate breaking God’s Commandments very well. And His Sabbath is among the most important of the Commandments of God.

Keep in mind that there was never a time when Yahshua violated His Father’s Sabbath according to His Word. He always kept the feasts that God the Father ordained. And if he had violated any of the Commandments he therefore, would not have been a fit sacrifice for our sins.

The Father knows therefore, who belongs to Christ and who doesn’t and Yahshua is speaking on behalf of the Father when he warns us of our disobedience.

30And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

We could not pay the Holy Spirit enough for Him to violate the Commandments of the Father, first the Spirit will warn us that we are about to violate the Law. And then if we continue the relationship is damaged and must be repaired.

This requires repentance on our part. And when we do this Yahshua is faithful to forgive us for our trespass.

Here in a nutshell is why Yahshua said, “I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!” (Matthew 7:23)

And also, why he said, “If you love me you will keep my Commandments.” (John 14:15)
