Genesis 26:1 There was a famine in the land, besides the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went to Abimelech king of the Philistines, in Gerar.
2 Then the Lord appeared to him and said: “Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land of which I shall tell you.
3 Dwell in this land, and I will be with you and bless you; for to you and your descendants I give all these lands, and I will perform the oath which I swore to Abraham your father.
4 And I will make your descendants multiply as the stars of heaven; I will give to your descendants all these lands; and in your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed;
5 because Abraham obeyed My voice and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My laws.”

Abrahams son, Isaac is now head of His own people, moving from place to place in search of green pastures for His flocks, like His Father before Him. And Indeed, Like His Father the Lord spoke to Him.

Then the Lord appeared to him and said: “Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land of which I shall tell you.
Dwell in this land, and I will be with you and bless you; for to you and your descendants I give all these lands, and I will perform the oath which I swore to Abraham your father. (Vs 2, 3)

So, Isaac inherited More than meets the eye, He also inherited The Lord and His Blessings. Here is a man who is going to Father the nation of Israel and pass down their inheritance. The Promised Land.

YHWH tells him, And I will make your descendants multiply as the stars of heaven; I will give to your descendants all these lands; and in your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed;

Yahweh does for Isaac the same as He did for Abraham and blesses His offspring, and why does He do this?

“because Abraham obeyed My voice and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My laws.”

Abraham Kept the law even before it was given to Israel at Mount Sinai, it was given to Abraham. Obedience is key to receiving God’s blessing not only for Abraham, and Isaac, but for Jacob and His sons. God has given His Word that He will bless us in the same way if we keep His Word / His Covenant.

He said, “Behold, I set before you today a blessing and a curse:
27the blessing, if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you today;
28and the curse, if you do not obey the commandments of the Lord your God, but turn aside from the way which I command you today, to go after other gods which you have not known.”  (Deuteronomy 11: 26-28)

Extending the inheritance to us, the same blessing is available to us and our children. But if we do not Keep His word we will be cursed.  Because God sees our disobedience as Idolatry, or following other gods.

Even today we can see both His blessing and His curse at work in our own nation. And truly our salvation is totally in His hands. For those of us who follow after Him will be saved.

Throughout the scriptures we are blessed to hear the same message repeated over and over again, and finally the ultimate Inheritance Hangs in the balance over the same question. Will we obey God?

For in the very last few verses of the Bible we see, blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. (The Blessing Revelation 22:14)

But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie. (The curse Revelation 22:15)

From Genesis to Revelation we have the same thing, Obedience to God’s Word is to be blessed.

Disobedience however brings a curse even the curse of being denied entry to God’s Kingdom.

How foolish are those who say that the law was nailed to the cross and abolished? The only Law that was abolished there was the Law of sin and death. (the curse.)

It is never too late to repent my friend, and change.

Did not God’s own messenger, John the Baptist Not preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!”
For this is he who was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah, saying: “The voice of one crying in the wilderness:

 ‘Prepare the way of the Lord; Make His paths straight.’”   (Matthew 3:2, 3)

Shalom my friends,

Chuck Greever
