Matthew 7:24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock:
25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.
26 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand:
27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”
Christ Yehoshua, is explaining to us that He, and only He, is the source of reliable truth. He has given us the information we need, and He is telling us that we would be wise to follow what He has said.
He draws a parallel of building on a rock, a solid foundation. In other words, He is the Rock of our salvation. No other person can make that claim. Not Paul, nor Peter, nor any other person. For they are just mere men and the only claim a man has to wisdom and knowledge is the presence of the Spirit of Christ living inside of him.
“Therefore, whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.” (Vs 24, 25)
Building on the rock is the theme here. Building on what is true, not false. Following the ancient path, the same exact path that Crist Yehoshua walked as an example for us to follow.
And what happens to those of us who do not listen to, or follow after His example, but have elected to follow some other way? He tells us in a graphic example.
“But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.” (Vs 26, 27)
He tells us in no uncertain terms what fools we are for not listening to what He has said. And this is exactly why I am here today.
While the apostle Paul is a very wise and knowledgeable man, we for the most part do not understand much of what He says, mostly because we cannot grasp the idea of being a former Pharisee, and know nothing of the training he received under Rabbi Gamaliel. So, it’s not that Paul is incorrect in what He says, the problem is that we simply cannot understand him, especially if we take his words out of context. And He is not our Savior anyway, but Christ is the Rock.
So, when we go to a Church, any Church, and all we hear is Paul this, or Paul that, and do not hear the Words of Christ taught, we need to know that Paul is being used as a scapegoat to draw us away from the Way, the Truth, and the Life of Christ.
And those who claim that the Law has been abolished run to Paul, not Christ to say so. Those who claim that salvation is a done deal, “once saved always saved” use Paul to say it, and pay no attention to the warnings that Christ gave about false salvation.
A prime example is, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’
And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ (Matthew 7:21-23)
He is talking to the Church that follows Him in word only, but in reality, they follow the traditions of men, and twist the words of Paul to do it. And the whole time they claim to follow the scriptures, yet they ignore the whole of what scripture actually says. Keep the commandments of YHVH God. And Christ Yehoshua says the same thing.
Why else would he say, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.
24He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me. (John 14:23, 24)
Not Paul’s nor any other man’s word, but the Word, according to Christ, the Logos, the living Word of God is to be kept.
Build on the Rock my friends, and not on your own hopes.
My soul, wait silently for God alone,
For my expectation is from Him.
He only is my rock and my salvation;
He is my defense;
I shall not be moved.
In God is my salvation and my glory;
The rock of my strength,
And my refuge, is in God.
Trust in Him at all times, you people;
Pour out your heart before Him;
God is a refuge for us. Selah — (Psalms 62:5-8)
Shalom my friends,
