A Nation of Priests.

Exodus 19:1 In the third month after the children of Israel had gone out of the land of Egypt, on the same day, they came to the Wilderness of Sinai.
2 For they had departed from Rephidim, had come to the Wilderness of Sinai, and camped in the wilderness. So, Israel camped there before the mountain.

3 And Moses went up to God, and the Lord called to him from the mountain, saying, “Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel:
4 ‘You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to Myself.
5 Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine.
6 And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.”

After three months of travel through the wilderness they arrived at the mountain where Moses had met YHVH God and received His calling. So, Israel camped before the mountain, not on it, but near to it.

In the third month after the children of Israel had gone out of the land of Egypt, on the same day, they came to the Wilderness of Sinai.
For they had departed from Rephidim, had come to the Wilderness of Sinai, and camped in the wilderness. So, Israel camped there before the mountain.
(Vs 1, 2)

Moses had already begun teaching the people the Commandments of Yahovah, during those 3 months of travel. But now, they will receive the Law directly from YHVH God Himself.

And Moses went up to God, and the Lord called to him from the mountain, saying, “Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel:
‘You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to Myself.”
(Vs 3, 4)

HaShem has demonstrated His Power before the people, He brought them out and destroyed Pharoah’s Army, He made it possible to cross the Red Sea, led them by day and night through the wilderness, fed them manna, and quail, and gave them water from a rock. He gave them victory over the Army of the Amalekites, and now He brought them to His mountain.

Certainly, these folks should know by now who their God is.

Yahovah says, “Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine.
And you sha Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine.
6 And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.”

6 And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.”

ll be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.” (Vs 5, 6)

Keeping the covenant that they are about to enter into will be their keys to the kingdom. If they will keep it!

And if they will attend to this covenant, then Yahovah will set them apart as a holy people who bear His mark. They will be more than just special, but blessed and lifted up as an example to all people. He says, “for all the earth is Mine.”

There is no doubt that the earth and everything in it is His, He is the creator of it!

And if it is His will that we become a kingdom of priests and a Holy nation, then this is sure to come to pass.

These words are repeated in scripture by Peter when He says, “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people, but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.” (1st Peter 2:9, 10)

YHVH God does not change and neither will His covenant, the same promise made to Israel also includes those who have joined themselves to the messiah of Israel, Christ Yehoshua!

So, I say this to those who call themselves saved, but think they are still Gentiles. Once we come to Christ, the Messiah, we will become just as much a part of Israel as He is.

For this is His Body, and we are adopted, or grafted into it, just Paul says, “For if you were cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and were grafted contrary to nature into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these, who are natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree?” (Romans 11:24)

The olive tree is symbolic of Israel. Not the country of Israel, but the house of Israel.

For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.
For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
(Galatians 3:26-29)
