Ezekiel 36:16 Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying:
17 “Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt in their own land, they defiled it by their own ways and deeds; to Me their way was like the uncleanness of a woman in her customary impurity.
18 Therefore I poured out My fury on them for the blood they had shed on the land, and for their idols with which they had defiled it.
19 So I scattered them among the nations, and they were dispersed throughout the countries; I judged them according to their ways and their deeds.
20 When they came to the nations, wherever they went, they profaned My holy name—when they said of them, ‘These are the people of the Lord, and yet they have gone out of His land.’
21 But I had concern for My holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the nations wherever they went.
The Prophet Ezekiel speaks of the time that YHWH God scattered the tribes of Israel to the nations, saying, “Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt in their own land, they defiled it by their own ways and deeds; to Me their way was like the uncleanness of a woman in her customary impurity.” (Vs 17)
Their own ways were to blame, not the way of the Elohim. They had become a god unto themselves. So, we see what walking outside of the covenant does to a people who had committed themselves to the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Joseph, when they turn away and transgress His instructions / Torah.
Deuteronomy 11:26 “Behold, I set before you today a blessing and a curse:
27 the blessing, if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you today;
28 and the curse, if you do not obey the commandments of the Lord your God, but turn aside from the way which I command you today, to go after other gods which you have not known.
So, here we can see clearly, what becomes of those who have transgressed YHWH God’s Law, the covenant.
Therefore, I poured out My fury on them for the blood they had shed on the land, and for their idols with which they had defiled it. (Vs 18)
Surely, we can understand God’s anger. They ran to Him for deliverance from bondage and persecution, and He came to them and with a mighty hand brought them out of their troubles and gave them a land of their own, and as soon as they were safe and wealthy, and in their own land. They began to fall away and practice things that were an offense to God. Idolatry, and child sacrifice, and marrying outside of their faith.
Deuteronomy 12:29 “When the Lord your God cuts off from before you the nations which you go to dispossess, and you displace them and dwell in their land,
30 take heed to yourself that you are not ensnared to follow them, after they are destroyed from before you, and that you do not inquire after their gods, saying, ‘How did these nations serve their gods? I also will do likewise.’
31 You shall not worship the Lord your God in that way; for every abomination to the Lord which He hates they have done to their gods; for they burn even their sons and daughters in the fire to their gods.
32 “Whatever I command you, be careful to observe it; you shall not add to it nor take away from it.
They did exactly what they were told by YHWH God himself not to do, and violated the Covenant!
“So, I scattered them among the nations, and they were dispersed throughout the countries; I judged them according to their ways and their deeds.” (Vs 19)
YHWH God continues to judge them even after they had been cast out. He sees what they have done since, and says of their conduct among the nations that they continue to shame Him.
“When they came to the nations, wherever they went, they profaned My holy name—when they said of them, ‘These are the people of the Lord, and yet they have gone out of His land.’” (Vs 20)
Wherever they went, they stuck out like a sore thumb. Traveler’s and wayfarer’s they were always strangers to the nations. And if they returned to the way and practiced the faith of Israel, they were seen as totally different from everyone else. Just the Sabbath and its practices would have been enough to make them outcasts in Pagan lands. It must have been very difficult for them.
“But I had concern for My holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the nations wherever they went.” (Vs 21)
We find however, that YHWH God’s concern is His holy name, Thus He will redeem them in order to restore what they had blasphemed.
Ezekiel 36:22 “Therefore say to the house of Israel, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: “I do not do this for your sake, O house of Israel, but for My holy name’s sake, which you have profaned among the nations wherever you went.
23 And I will sanctify My great name, which has been profaned among the nations, which you have profaned in their midst; and the nations shall know that I am the Lord,” says the Lord GOD, “when I am hallowed in you before their eyes.
24 For I will take you from among the nations, gather you out of all countries, and bring you into your own land.
25 Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols.
26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.
27 I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.
28 Then you shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; you shall be My people, and I will be your God.
29 I will deliver you from all your uncleanness.”
This is happening now, He is drawing those who belong to Him, out of their places and restoring them to the land He promised them. Here is the reason so many of us have left the traditional Church and returned the Way of Christ. And why we are keeping Father God’s Commandments, the Covenant, just as Christ Yahshua exemplified.
Here is why he said, “If you love Me, keep My commandments.” (John 14:15) And why He said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” (Matthew 15:24)
There are many great lessons that can be taken from this scripture for today, but this stands out to me.
We need to observe How God deals with unbelief, in America, and elsewhere.
We need to see that he will never leave us or forsake us.
And We must understand that He will always be a God of redemption and salvation, but understand that not everyone will make the cut, but only those who are willing to obey His and live according to His Holy Word.
And why Jesus / Yahshua said, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.
He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me.” (John 14:23, 24)
Shalom my friends,
