Deuteronomy 4:1 “Now, O Israel, listen to the statutes and the judgments which I teach you to observe, that you may live, and go in and possess the land which the Lord God of your fathers is giving you.
2 You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.
3 Your eyes have seen what the Lord did at Baal Peor; for the Lord your God has destroyed from among you all the men who followed Baal of Peor.
4 But you who held fast to the Lord your God are alive today, every one of you.
Now here is the problem, we were given the Commandments by YHWH God the Father from the very first. And our ancestors, the sons and daughters of Israel, entered into a covenant agreement with YHWH to keep these commandments.
We are to keep God’s commandments, not ours, not any man’s, but YHWH God’s commandments just as they are given in the scriptures.
He said, “You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.” (Vs 2)
In other words, we can’t change any commandment, nor can we add to it, Christmas, Easter, or Sunday Sabbath. We must no do anything outside of what God ordained. And He promises retribution against those who do.
He explains, “Your eyes have seen what the Lord did at Baal Peor; for the Lord your God has destroyed from among you all the men who followed Baal of Peor.”
His wrath against those who chose idolatry and worshipped Baal of Peor violated His Commandments and now they no longer live. Changing or adapting His commandment to suit ourselves is the same as Bowing down to Baal or some other god in YHWH’s eyes.
The same was true for the Temple priests who came against Messiah Yahshua, in Mark Chapter 7,
He said to them, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written: ‘This people honors Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me.
And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’” (Mark 7:6, 7)
This is a big no, no, and no matter who we think we are in Christ the same scriptures apply to us. I say this because so many think that because they call themselves Gentiles they have no part in the Old Testament, but in reality they have no part in Christ, and have not been grafted in to the His house, the house of Israel.
When we do these things not only have we declared ourselves independent of God, but we have declared openly that we worship ourselves as god’s and have taken liberty with the Holy Scriptures. That my friends is a declaration of idolatry.
Fortunately we have a Savior in the Messiah of Israel who will forgive us our trespasses, But for that to happen there must be a contrite heart, and a desire to change. And some have changed and come out from among those who are lawless, and corrupted.
While you consider this message today also consider this:
Why did Yahshua say, “Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’
And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’” (Matthew 7:22, 23)
Shalom my friends,
