Deuteronomy 6:24 And the Lord commanded us to observe all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God, for our good always, that He might preserve us alive, as it is this day.
25 Then it will be righteousness for us, if we are careful to observe all these commandments before the Lord our God, as He has commanded us.’
From the very beginning YHWH God handed down the commandments, and said that it was for our good that He might preserve us alive.
He did the same thing with Noah, and Abraham, giving them His statutes, And ordinances.
“And I will make your descendants multiply as the stars of heaven; I will give to your descendants all these lands; and in your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed; because Abraham obeyed My voice and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My laws.” (Genesis 26:4, 5)
So, from the very beginning of time God has required those whom he has chosen, to walk according to His Commandments. And it is only right that the Creator of all life expect to be honored and obeyed by those to whom He has given life. And this is true of every person that we have been introduced to through the scriptures. For all of them bear this one characteristic in common. They were lawful, and held up to us as examples of righteousness. Every story in the bible brings us face to face with the do’s and don’t of living according to God’s instructions.
What about today? Do we have an example to follow? Absolutely we do! Christ and His disciples, every one of them walked according to God’s commandments. They kept the feast days, and the Sabbath, for they taught other’s to keep the commandments, therefore, they were compelled to be an example of right living.
But what we have today is not that at all. What we have for teacher’s now, are men who want to be well paid for bringing a sermon that may, or may not be totally true. And as a result, many of them live better than many of their own congregation.
“Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.” (Matthew 8:20)
Quite the contrast between them and the Christ they preach. The difference therefore has become so glaring that it is laughable. That we should follow such prideful teachers, rather than the living Word of God.
And then from the beginning of the scriptures where we are taught to keep God’s Law, we now cannot find a church that preaches the Commandments. But here is where we will see the results of abandoning the instructions of God. The result of which, has been promised by our Savior.
Those of us who have participated in this lawlessness need to know what Christ had said about them.
“Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’
And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’” (Matthew 7:22, 23)
Listening to these Preacher’s who don’t know, or who don’t keep the Commandments, has brought us to the very precipice of life and death. Because they have not taught us the most important part of God’s Word. The Way of Christ!
What will happen to us now, we wonder?
If we really want to know, let’s visit the very last chapter of the Bible.
Revelation 22:12 “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work.
13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.”
14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.
15 But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie.
Christ is coming, and when he does, He will judge each and every one of us, and reward us for our deeds in this world. Both Good and evil will be rewarded accordingly. This is why it is so vital that we repent and return to the Way of Christ, before this happens.
He tells us here that he is the Alpha and the Omega, or the beginning and the end of all things. He was here for the creation, and is still here for the end. Christ Yahshua is one with God the Father, there is no difference between them. He is the giver of the commandments to Noah, and to Abraham, and to Israel at Sinai, and to you and I.
In Verse 13 He says, “Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.” Here is the reward for living according to His Law, The Commandments.
But what about those who have not kept the commandments?
He says, “But, outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie.” They are left outside, unable to enter the Kingdom, and unable to draw near to the light. Their reward is being left out.
I can’t imagine what it must be like to live in constant darkness, away from the presence of YHWH God.
But that’s the promise come the judgment.
“Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you.”
“I will be a Father to you and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.” (2nd Corinthians 6:17, 18)
Isn’t it time to turn from our lawless, and unclean ways, and return to our God?
If we’re not keeping His Commandments, we are lawless in His eyes. Repent and return to the Way of Christ.
Shalom my friends.
